We pride ourselves on providing quality childcare, and believe that a program should incorporate variety, challenge, and age-appropriate activities to best be able to meet the needs of all children.
In order to try and accomplish this, we split the children into separate rooms/programs based on grades they have just finished. This allows us to program age-appropriate activities/crafts/games and challenging options in addition to ensuring the toys and play centers are also aligned with the ages using them and maximize the fun that our summer program offers.
ARE WE A GOOD FIT?
To better help find a summer program that suits the needs of your child(s), we’d like to share some extra details about BASP summer camps.
- Numbers! Childcare licensing stipulates to maintain 15 children to 1 adult leader ratio. We strive to lower this to a more manageable 10 children to 1 adult leader ratio. Your child will be in groups and encouraged to follow group instructions. While leaders are trained to give individual support in instances, consistent individual support is impractical due to camp numbers.
- Noise! Children’s energy levels are high in the summer and for good reason, they’ve got lots of amazing friends to make and play with, activities to take part in, bus rides to have and fieldtrips to experience. This creates a high noise environment.
- Transitions! For some young children, moving from one activity to another (e.g., general room to bus, floor toys to group organized activity, leaving a playground to return to the building) results in confusion, frustration, and challenging behavior's. We employ different techniques such as verbal, non-verbal and positive feedback to help out with these times. Our summer program will have numerous transitions each day and in each program.
